The Countdown To Tryouts Is On!

In cheerleading, there really is no ‘off season’. When one season rolls into another and tryouts are just around the corner, there is not much time to prep. I know tryouts can be intimidating -especially if you are trying out for a new team, a new school, or for your dream team.

But not to worry! To help you walk into tryouts with confidence and walk out with a spot on the team, I have put together my favorite exercises, fit tips, and nutrition advice to help you where you need it most.

And it starts with fitness.

Now, to walk into tryouts with confidence you need to focus on 3 things:

1. Flexibility – Flexibility is key for increasing your range of motion and preventing injury. Stretching should be a regular (and important) part of your fitness routine.

2. Building Endurance & Stamina – At tryouts you want to show your coach you have the energy to power through that entire routine and keep going strong. You can’t be huffing and puffing after that tumbling pass or jump sequence.

3. Improving Strength – Strength training is essential to preventing injury and staying fit. Cheering is very different than most sports! Other sports throw balls, cheerleaders throw people, and we must condition our bodies with specific exercises specifically as it applies to our cheer needs.

Remember, “your future is created by what you do today”. Getting in cheer shape and ready for tryouts is not going to happen over night. You have to put in the work now to make those future goals happen. You’ve got the tools, you’ve got the drive, now let’s make that team!
