Fitness Friday: Fit Tips To Make the Most of Competition Season

Competition season is finally here!! You know, it is that little thing that we cheerleaders train all season for. Competitions are the motivation behind our blood, sweat and tears and are the driving force that brings us all together.

Although you have practiced all year and are pumped to take the mat to show the judges what you’re made of, sometimes standing on the floor waiting for the music to start can be a little intimidating…until now!

Follow me, founder of cheerFIT, former collegiate cheerleader and trainer to pros, as I share my favorite FIT tips, tricks, and insider secrets to help you go from runner up to competition champ!

Tip #1: Strengthen Your Core

Did you know your core is your powerhouse? The stronger your core, the better your stunts, tumbling, and technique will be. Try my favorite ab exercises:

Tip #2: Stay FIT and FOCUSED

The key to performing your best is to be strong, confident and able to run through your routine without huffing and puffing.  I know, you practice for hours throughout the week, but this week let’s focus on conditioning your body. The stronger you are, the better your routine.

Tip #3: Visualization is the Key to Success

Get ready, I am going to share my best tip yet! In order to run through a perfect routine, you have to visualize it happening.  Each night before you go to sleep I want you to shut your eyes and run through your routine. As you visualize your routine, I want you to hit every stunt, tumbling pass and motion with perfection! Within just a few short weeks, I guarantee you will see great results. Remember, if you believe it, you can achieve it!
