A Letter To My Younger Self

Dear Chelsey,

Hey it’s me!  Who’s me? I’m you from the future! I wanted to write a letter to hopefully encourage you. So please, take a moment and listen.

First off, don’t let anyone tell you to stop or give up on what you love doing.  Sure, overcoming a mental block is absolutely no fun but that is no reason to just give up. Not everyone understands the struggle and frustration that you are going through and the constant fight with yourself. Always remember though, you will overcome this. It might not be today or tomorrow but it will come back. Get rid of the negative thoughts and just relax!

Surround yourself with the right friends who build you up and not tear you down. Real friends encourage one another. Also, you need to be a friend.  At your age, girls are not always nice. Stay away from these types of girls and don’t ever let anyone get you down. You are beautiful and talented.

Now there is school. I know, you hate school. You hate going every day and you feel like it’s torture. If it weren’t for your extracurricular activities, you definitely would not be there.  I know you don’t like it, but hang in there. Even if you don’t want to, study. I know it seems like it’s not important, but you will be proud you did when you finally reach your senior year and graduate. Your teachers really are trying to prepare you for college. By all means though, don’t wish the time away. Enjoy every minute of it. You can’t go back in time and wish you did what you didn’t do.

Chelsey, I hope these tips encourage you. Work hard in school and put your best foot forward in everything you do. Don’t give up on what you love doing. You will overcome that fear. Find the right friends in life and most importantly be yourself!

Love Always,

Chelsey
