Chasing My Cheer Dreams

By  |  0 Comments

As I reflect on the past and look back to my years dedicated to cheer, I realize how much I have progressed. I notice where I began in comparison to where I am now and notice so much growth and development.  From even an early age, I knew that I wanted to be a cheerleader. Although I had no idea of the hard work and dedication that it would take, I was still drawn to it.

I can typically pick up most skills just by watching others. But when it comes to more of the technical alignment and practice it takes to stunt, I know its much more than just observation.  I joke that the back handspring I started with was technically the worst ever! Although from there, I have progressed so much.

My journey has come with an emotional roller coaster ride.  Before one major discovery, I felt continuously disappointed. What I realized is that there is a process to my development. It doesn’t happen overnight, cheer leading takes commitment. (Check out this blog for a little more insight on determination) It’s all part of the challenge that comes along with growth.

With this major realization, I decided to set some goals for myself. With these goals in place, I became focused to achieve. I used my goals to push myself to reach higher levels than I ever expected. Check out this article for more tips on goals here.

The key is to follow my dreams no matter how bumpy the road may get. Dreams start with a vision and are reached by using the goals you set as a guide. From there, the winning ingredient is hard work and determination. If you give up on your dreams, you give up on yourself. So remember, NOTHING in Cheer or in life comes easy.

So always dream big, do what it takes to reach the goals you set, and work hard.  Do your best each day and you will make huge strides toward making your dreams reality.
